Description
Our Public Sector client is looking to recruit a HR Officer on an initial 2-3 months contract in Somerset.
Responsibilities in the role will include:
- Provide professional advice, guidance and support to managers, headteachers and governors across the Council on a wide range of employment and related issues.
- Deliver options, progress and solutions on a range of casework including (but not exhaustive) recruitment, performance, investigations, disciplinary, grievances and interpretation of terms and conditions of service.
- Work closely with managers, headteachers and governors on resolving key business and people led problems and issues by putting forward and considering a range of innovative solutions which meet business requirements whilst complying with policy, employment law and statutory regulations.
- Support and guide service managers in dealing with investigations and disciplinary and other conduct matters to support and protect the interests of the business and to ensure due process and fairness.
- Support Senior HR Advisors and other managers in conducting employee relations, consultations and collective bargaining with employees and trade union/professional body representatives.

This is a fast-paced environment therefore you will need to be well organised, resilient and able to prioritise your own workload. The main objectives of this role are to:
- Provide advice, updates, and direction (sometimes high level and complex) on a range of Employee Relations matters (including ill health; disciplinary; performance capability; grievance; probation)
- Contribute to workforce strategies and planning, working with finance and data teams and managing projects to support implementation.
- Monthly review of sickness and unplanned absence management, and working with the team to identify appropriate interventions.
- Support managers/ teams with performance management where appropriate to support early interventions and signpost to the HR Service Desk as required.
- Support the team and colleagues to identify and make improvements to the service provided to directorates.
This role will a mixture of hybrid working and travel to various business sites across Somerset.
