ur Public Sector client is looking for an experienced Highways Design Engineer/Contracts Manager to join a well-established basis, based in Bristol.
The successful candidate will need to be a qualified, experienced and adaptable Design Engineer, used to working in a pressurised urban local authority project delivery environment and familiar with the day to day use of the Design Manual for Road and Bridge Works, Manual for Streets, and all the regulatory and guidance documents associated with developing practical and achievable designs within the constraints of the urban public realm.
In particular the candidate should have experience of designing bus priority measures and cycle facilities in a busy urban highway environment, this may including town high streets, residential areas or shop front locations etc.
The candidate must have good communication skills and be confident at listening and developing the initial client’s brief, negotiating and achieving the agreement of clients and all statutory and local stakeholders.
They must be fully computer-literate, skilled in the use of AutoCAD 2016 and associated software for the preparation of highway design drawings. They must be fully conversant with NEC3 Engineering Construction Contract (with evidence of significant experience in preparing documents for procurement), and up to date and fully conversant with the role of Principal Designer under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
The candidate must have a current CSCS card and be able to interview early next week.
Please note this role is paying up to £32.00 per hour dependant on experience. Hours may also vary to accommodate works and projects.
